Abstract
Chitosan, a natural nontoxic chelator, was reported to reduce whole body retention and accclate fecal or urinary excretion of radiostrontium in mice, In this study, we are investigate the results of blocking of the transfer in pregnancy mice by using chitosan treatments after the radiostrontium contamination. Chilosan powder or chitosan solution and usual powder or saline was mixed as 10:90 or 1:99 by weight. The mixed food to 10%, 1% chitosan(group1, group3) or 1% solution(group2) were given orally for 60 days before 85Sr administration. In other groupe, mixed 10%, 1% chitosan(group 4, group6) or 1% chitosan solution(group5) was giveu 1 days from immediated after oral administration of 85SrCls(0,25 y Ci). In control gnoup, no chitosan was given. Either chitosan powder or chitosan solution was effective on the blocking of 85Sr transfer from pregnancy mice to fctus. In conclusion, in the case of prefeeding chitosan was effective on the blocking of 85Sr transfer from pregnancy mice to fetus.
